Many Roads, One Path

Dear Parishioner,

Each year, our Diocesan Appeal helps thousands in our diocese to grow in their Catholic faith. Recently, our Holy Father, Pope Francis, emphasized the heart of the Gospel message by crying out to the world, “The only path is Jesus.”

In life, people walk many roads. In our day, we sometimes see friends, relatives; even members of our families leave the path to Jesus and walk a different road. How can we help them see the light of Jesus and follow His way? We also see the needy, the homeless, those whose family lives are challenged and many who have not come to know Jesus. How can we minister to all of them as we live our own commitment to the Church?

Our Diocesan Appeal supports the ministries that give us the ability to help people see that path to Christ. As Bishop of Rockford, I ask you to join me in being a part of our Diocesan Appeal this year to bring the lost sheep back to the Church and to feed the hungry and clothe the naked.

There are so many roads, but only One Path that will lead the world to salvation! That Path is Jesus Christ. Please prayerfully consider what you can give to help strengthen and grow our Catholic Faith in the Diocese of Rockford.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

The Most Reverend David J. Malloy
Bishop of Rockford
